On June 14, 2025, Adelina Sanchez Hernandez was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. She was the epitome of a strong, hard working mother of 7 children, and she had enough love to fill the world. She was born on February 1st, 1939, and lived to be 86 years old.
She was the rock and backbone for her children. She loved to cook for her family and anyone who was coming over. Feeling welcomed and right at home with Adelina was never a challenge, as she made it so easy. Creativity was a passion among the many she had. She loved knitting, crossword puzzles, word finds, but nothing compared to playing bingo while she was a resident at the McCamey Convalescent Center. One of her absolute favorite things to do in the morning was to sit outside on the porch so she can see the sun and feel the warm breeze while enjoying her daily cup of coffee. She would stay there all day if she could. Adelina also had a passion for music and dance. One thing is for sure- whether she was sitting or standing- if she heard music she was MOVING!
Above all else, she loved her family, and in her heart, family did not end in blood. She embraced her friends and the children she looked after with love and considered them a part of her heart. Adelina was the true definition of a mother. She was selfless, caring, and supportive, but was no stranger to discipline and maintaining a firm hand in her home. However, when her grandchildren came… that was not the case. She never said no to her grandkids. Because of this, many memories…and cavities… were created.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the McCamey Convalescent Center for showing kindness and caring for our beloved throughout her final years.
Adelina is preceded in death by her parents Epifanio and Julia Sanchez, sisters Mary Lee Arana, Amalia Rodriguez, Elidia Martinez, Edemencia Rubio, and grandson George Marquez Jr.
She is survived by sisters: Cecilia Arista, Edna (Sabas) Marquez and sister by heart Rose Fowler.
