Dollie Hicks Lynch

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dollie Hicks Lynch, who departed this life on June 2, 2025, after a brief illness. Born on May 20, 1954, in San Angelo, Texas, Dollie was the cherished daughter of William Walton "Barber Bill" and Arnold Maxine Hicks of McCamey, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother.

Dollie was a lifelong resident of McCamey, Texas, growing up and later raising her own family in the town she so deeply loved. A true "Badger" through and through, she was recognized early on for her vibrant personality, stunning long hair, and remarkable talents as a fire baton twirler (Yes On FIRE) as well as drum major. Shortly after graduating high school, her life’s journey led her to Chihuahua, Mexico, where she married her cowboy beau, Coy B. Lynch.

Dollie possessed an inherent drive to serve her community. Her early career saw her in the administration office at the McCamey hospital, and she later served with distinction as a hospital board member. She was a dedicated contributor to the local Chamber of Commerce and economic development committees, tirelessly working to strengthen her community. However, her greatest pride and joy came from her work at the McCamey ISD as an instructional assistant. She passionately supported teachers with classroom management, provided individualized tutoring, and assisted students with special needs. "The Dollie Momma" and "The Warden," as she was affectionately known, was always ready with a soft shoulder and a firm hand, offering guidance and encouragement. One always knew where they stood with Dollie and she often shared her mantra with her friends and students: "Do the work and then never look back." Dollie especially cherished the moments when her former students would seek her out to share their triumphs and challenges, a testament to the profound impact she had on their lives.

Dollie’s memory will be forever cherished by her devoted husband, Coy B.; her two sons, Coy Wayne and Steven Mark; her daughter-in-law, Shiloh; and her adored grandchildren, Colton and Kylie, all of McCamey, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Hicks, and his extended family of Hobbs, New Mexico, and her thirty seven (37) nieces and nephews and their children, each of whom she held with a unique and personalized love. Dollie’s legacy extends far beyond her family, encompassing the immeasurable impact she had on the local community and the countless students she encouraged and admired throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 6th, from 2pm to 6pm at the Nichols funeral home.  Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 7th at the Nichols funeral home chapel with Reverend Ted Creech officiating.  Burial will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery.
