George Anna Cardwell Prather
George Anna Prather, 91, of McCamey, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
George Anna was born September 9, 1934, to George and Elizabeth Travis Cardwell in Brownfield, Texas. She was a graduate of Denver City High School and married Reginal Lee Prather (Reg) on February 16, 1953. Together they had 3 children – Paul, David and Allan. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in McCamey.
She was an active member of the McCamey community serving in the Ministerial Alliance, Food Bank, Women’s Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority among others and worked the elections in Upton County for many years. George Anna was named the Citizen of the Year by the McCamey Chamber of Commerce in 2016.
George Anna was known in the community as the “well dressed” lady. She never went to town without being dressed up and her hair done. A beautiful lady with a beautiful heart.
She is survived by her Sons - Paul (Jeanie), Allan (Patti) and daughter in law Lydia Fuentes; Grandchildren – Michael Prather, Casey Prather, Dara Prather, Heath Prather and Seth Prather, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom were very special to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Reg Prather; son – David Prather; siblings – Perla, Gilbert, Leo, Dalphene and Olen; and special friend Willard (Mac) McDaniel.
Pallbearers will be her Grandsons – Michael Prather, Casey Prather, Heath Prather, Seth Prather and Great Grandsons – Kelbyn Floyd, Keaton Prather, Justin Prather and Kody Prather. Honorary Pallbearers: Granddaughters – Dara Prather, Younghee Prather and Jennifer Butts Great Granddaughters: Paige Prather, Presley Prather, Myka Stewart, Heather Prather, Kaitlyn Floyd
