Horace Allen Peek, 81 of McGregor, Texas formerly of Crane, passed away on October 8, 2022 surrounded by his family. 

 

Horace was born on May 9, 1941 to Alice Lucy and Horace H. Peek. He married the love of his life Wanda Smart on May 11, 1962 in Crane, Texas. They were married for 60 years. He moved to Crane when he was five years old, and lived there for 74 years. The last two years he has been living in McGregor, Texas to be closer to his children, and grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cook-offs, and spending time with family. 

 

Horace is survived by his wife Wanda Peek, daughter Toni Draper and husband Dewayne of Crawford, son Larry and wife Theresa of Justin; Grandchildren Marcus Draper, Stephanie Draper, and Allison Mayfield and husband Critter all of Crawford; Great Grandchildren Madyson Draper, Adysen Mayfield, Avery Mayfield, and Conor Mayfield; Sisters Barbra McSpadden and husband Boogie of Rankin, Dorothy Bagby of San Angelo, Judy Allen and husband Art of Alabama, Brother-in-Law Kenneth Smart of Canyon along with several nieces and nephews. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents Alice and Horace H. Peek, his sister Jeanette and brother-in-law Virgil Polson, brother Charles and sister-in-law Gislea Peek, brother Robert Peek, brother-in-law Danny Bagby, sister-in-law Via Smart, two nieces, and one nephew. 

 

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 at Shaffer- Nichols Funeral Home in Crane, Texas. 

 

Graveside service will be Sunday, October 23, 2022 at 2:00 at the Crane County Cemetery.
