James "Jim" Bodie Moore, 88, of Fort Stockton, joined his Lord and Savior on February 22, 2026. He was born on October 27, 1937, to Bodie Moore and Lorean Jackson Moore.
Jim married the love of his life, Dorothy, on December 20, 1958, in Seligman, Arizona. In 1963, they made their home in Fort Stockton, where they built a life centered on faith, family, and hard work. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army, carrying a strong sense of duty, honor, and perseverance throughout his life.
He worked for Firestone in Fort Stockton before continuing his career with the United States Department of Agriculture Wildlife Services. Jim faithfully served for 20 years before retiring in June 2000.
Jim had a deep love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid fan of boxing and baseball. Beyond being a fan, he spent time before coaching boxing and baseball, investing in others and sharing his knowledge and passion for both sports. Much of his spare time was spent in his shop crafting custom knives with great skill and pride. Through his business, James B. Moore Custom Knives, he created pieces that reflected his patience, craftsmanship, and dedication to excellence.
Jim was a loving father to five children: Mary Moore of Midland; Bruce Moore of Fort Stockton; Becky Gonzales and husband P.A. of Crane; Jimbo Moore and partner Tammie of Crane; and Karen Moore of Dallas. He was a cherished PawPaw to Brenna (Arick), Rocky, Rachel (Justin), Mason, Lil PA (Ana), Chelse, Bodie, Breanna, Corbin, and Brice, and a proud great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; his parents, Bodie Moore and Lorean Jackson; his siblings, Michael "Mike" Moore, Delphia "Bodine" Johnson, and Patrick "Pat" Moore; and his precious great-grandchild, Grace Skylar Heredia.
A graveside service celebrating Jim's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey, Texas.
