Larry Gene Partney, 72, of McCamey, Fort Stockton, and Grandfalls, Texas, was freed to fly on April 2, 2024. Larry graduated from McCamey High School. He worked for Coca-Cola and spent many years with Valero Natural Gas. He served as Layman for the Union Church and was a City Council member in Grandfalls, TX. He lived many years in Brackettville, TX on Fort Clark Springs helping his sister maintain properties, and he portrayed a cowboy for Happy Shahan for reenactments at the movie set of The Alamo and other notable western movies. Larry was a lifelong drummer and played many sets all over Texas since he was 15 years old and loved every second of it.
Larry was a lover of people. There is not a soul that ever-crossed paths with him that didn’t receive his genuine love (and probably a hug too!). He was a boy scout leader for many years and touched the lives and mentored many young people, while unknowingly providing lifelong protection for his daughters! He was always available to help in any way he could and would do so for a complete stranger. He loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time taking in nature in any form: sunsets, sunrises, water, trees, mountains, desert. He was in awe of the glory of God and his creations. He loved his family, especially his daughters and his Grandkids dearly and like no other. He made sure there was no doubt how much he loved each of them.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Carmen Ercell Dodd and his father, Clifton Harbson Partney of McCamey, his sister, Hattie Berleth, his niece, Joy Partney Rouseau. He is survived by his Daughters, Trisha Partney Copeland, husband Jason, of Grandfalls and Trina Partney Day, husband Guy, of McCamey. 5 Grandchildren, Hadley Magee, Jaidyn Copeland Burns (Dustin), Piper Day (Michael), Jensyn Copeland, Cordelia Day and 2 Great Grandsons, Thomas Michael Burns, Dayton Cross Butler, and 2 on the way: Sister Gwendolyn Pichot of Laredo, Brother Richard Partney (Mary) of McCamey, Brother Clifton H Partney, Jr of Spring (dec. Barbara), Sister Leta Andrew (Glenn) of Kerrville, Brother James Partney (Bev) of San Antonio, many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Nothing was more special to him than those whom he loved.
There will be a special and personal service to celebrate Larry in McCamey, TX May 2024. Please reach out to the family for specific location and time on that day and please make preparations to attend. He would want you ALL to be there.
