Leroy “La Rora” Martinez, 72 of McCamey, passed away Sunday, September 6. 2026.

He was born in McCamey on January 23.1954 and graduated McCamey High School in 1972.

Leroy married the love of his life Gregoria Martinez on June 14, 1975. He loved taking his wife on dates to Odessa and eat at Big Daddy’s Golla’s favorite place to eat. He loved taking his family on trips to San Antonio to the themed parks and he love riding the big roller coasters, another trip he love to do was taking his family to the beach in Corpus Christi. His hobby was collecting tools.

What Leroy enjoyed the most though was watching his grandkids participate and compete in sport activities, he was their biggest supporter and #1 fan. He loved spending time with his family and always looked forward to Sunday evening dinners with everyone gathered.

He was a member of the McCamey Apostolic Church.

Leroy was proceeded in death by his father Federico Martinez on October 2,2009, his mother, Elidia Sanchez Martinez on September 21, 2016, and his brother Steve Sanchez Martinez on June 12, 2017

Survivors include his wife of 51 years Gregoria Martinez, daughters Helda Martinez (Dusty Mueller) and Veronica Martinez, both of McCamey, his only granddaughter Nyia Allen and four grandsons, Diego Castaneda, Demarco Allen, Elijah Castaneda, Gavin Castaneda, siblings his only sister Viola Rodriguez, brothers Hector Sanchez Martinez, Noah Sanchez Martinez, and Arthur “Tudy” Martinez and lots of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Nichols Funeral home on Wednesday evening from 3:00pm to 9:00pm.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 am., Thursday, September 10th at the Funeral Home with Pastor Luis Rodriguez and Pastor Abel Torres officiating. Burial will follow at the Resthaven Cemetery in McCamey with arrangements under the care of and direction of Nichols Funeral Home.
