Obituary

Mario A. Hernandez

October 15, 1946 - April 12, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Mario A. Hernandez, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, April 12, 2026. He was born October 15, 1946, in Acuna Coahuila, Mexico to Alfredo Hernandez Arzola and Natividad Estrada de Hernandez.

Mario met and married his life partner, Guadalupe Gomez de Hernandez. Together, they built a beautiful family. From their union, they were blessed with 5 children their first-born son Mario Alberto Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, Nelia Hernandez, (miscarriage) and Alejandra Hernandez.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose life reflected love, humbleness, kindness and selflessness. His children were his pride and his grandchildren were the light of his life and his greatest joy. He embraced his role as "Abuelo, Wello, buelo, and Coco" wholeheartedly making sure all his grandchildren always felt special, whether through cookies, fruits or sips of his room temperature coffee he always carried around as we called it "el cognac."

He will be remembered for his unique and loving ways- his beautiful smile, kind heart and always telling jokes. That was the way he made sure to make everyone feel happy, cared for and deeply loved.

Mario, was a hard working man who took great pride in always being on time, being a great co-worker and honest as could be. He had a great eye for detail and a thoughtful spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He always called on birthdays, always checked in on loved ones and made it his mission to keep his family close. His love will forever be planted on others through his family, as he leaves them with that mission in their life's. His God fearing faith will live on forever along with his memories.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfredo Hernandez Arzola y Natividad Estrada de Hernandez; brother Pablo J. Hernandez E.

He leaves behind a beautiful and lasting legacy through his children: Mario Alberto Hernandez and his wife Yolanda Hernandez, Javier Hernandez and his wife Edna Hernandez, Nelia Hernandez and her husband Pedro Carrillo Ortiz, Alejandra Hernandez and her husband Victor Ruben Leija. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Maleny Santellano (Allan Santellano), Diana Ivonne Guerra (Alyssa Guerra), Mario Alberto Hernandez Jr., Javier Arath Hernandez, Daryanna Aileen Perez, Jacob Adrian Hernandez and Preston Alejandro Leija Hernandez and "Estrada."

His legacy continues to grow through his great-grandchildren, Pedro Sebastian Santellano and Diana Valentina Santellano.

He is also survived by his siblings, Santa Gonzalez, Hector Hernandez, Bertha Hernandez, Maria Garcia, Miguel Hernandez and Lidia Flores and lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, both by blood and by marriage, all of whom he held close to his heart.

Pallbearers will be: Mario A. Hernandez, Javier Hernandez, Victor R. Leija, Pedro C. Ortiz, Mario A. Hernandez Jr., Javier A. Hernandez, Jacob A. Hernandez, Preston A. Leija.

Though our Love for God brings us peace, our hearts are heavy with grief. We find comfort in knowing that where he is there is no more suffering. That God opened his gates and remembered his name and that he reunited in Heaven with all his departed loved ones. He will live on forever in our hearts and memories.

Psalm 91:

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

Daddy, you were our world, our life and our heart- and part of us went with you the day God called you home. We will always remember you, the good, the happy and even the health battles you fought. You are always going to be the Bravest man we know. Thank you for all that you taught us we promise to love our Savior Lord like you did and wanted us to. Fly high Daddy rest assured we will take it from here.
