Melvin Carey Gilley

Melvin Carey Gilley, age 74, of Iraan, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

Born on March 24, 1952, in Edinburg, Texas, Melvin grew up in the South Texas area before eventually making his home in the community of Iraan. He was a beloved brother, father, and friend who was known for his quiet strength and presence.

Melvin was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Hood, and his stepfather, Cliff Hood. He is survived by his older sister, Nettie, and his stepbrother, Clifton Hood Jr., as well as his children, grandchildren, and extended family who will deeply miss him and carry forward his memory.

Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Nichols Funeral Home in Crane, Texas. Service details and a celebration of his life will be announced by the family at a later date.
