Monroe Allen “Pee Wee” Marshall, age 74, of Crane, Texas died Sunday, May 10, 2015 in an Odessa hospital. He was born on September 12, 1940 in Crane to Howard and Alice Marshall, the second of thirteen children. After attending Crane schools, Pee Wee joined the Navy in 1958. He proudly served with the FITRON 101 Grim Reapers Unit on the U.S.S. Independence as a plane captain and was a golden glove boxer until his enlistment was up in 1961.
Upon leaving the Navy, Pee Wee returned to Crane where he worked for M&P Construction for many years. Up until his retirement in 2003, he visited many areas of the country behind the wheel of a ‘big rig’.
Pee Wee was preceded in death by his father, Howard Marshall; his mother, Alice Marshall Campbell; his step-father, Joe Campbell; a sister, Ruby Lyman; and two brothers, Jackie Marshall and Howard Marshall.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Darlene Marshall; a son, Jesus Marshall; and a granddaughter, Kirstie Goins, all of Crane, Texas. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Gloria Marshall of Pflugerville, Texas; JoAnne Marshall of Ft. Stockton, Texas; Sally and Larry Bilbo of Pineland, Texas; Kenneth and Theresa Marshall of Huntington, Texas; Bernetta and Jeff Rosati of West Cornwall, Connecticut; Jerry and Leesa Marshall of Ozona, Texas; Terry and Merry Marshall of Lufkin, Texas; K.C. Marshall of Austin, Texas; Treva Marshall of Diboll, Texas; and Bobby Marshall of Lufkin, Texas.
The family will be receiving friends on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home in Crane. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am in Crane County Cemetery on Thursday, May 14, 2015. Pallbearers will be his brothers, Kenneth, Jerry, Terry, K.C., and Bobby, and his nephew, Vaughn. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
