Petra Garcia

Mrs. Petra Garcia of Crane, Texas, passed away on September 19, 2025 at the age of eighty-nine at Crane Memorial Hospital. 

Mrs. Garcia was born on August 20th of 1936 in Rio Bravo, Coahuila, Mexico. She married Benigno Garcia, Sr. on August 5, 1962. They were married for sixty-one years before Mr. Garcia passed away in January of 2024. Mrs. Garcia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Petra dedicated much of her life to caring for her family and home. She found great joy in raising her children, guiding them with love, patience, and strength. In addition to her role as a stay-at-home mother, Petra also worked tirelessly in many fields and ranches over the years. Whether helping with gathering and picking crops or cooking meals for the workers, she carried a strong work ethic, resilience, and pride in the honest labor that supported her family. She will be remembered for her kindness, her unshakable devotion to her loved ones, and the quiet strength that defined her life. 

Mrs. Garcia is survived by two sons—Luis Alfonso Garcia of Bastrop, Texas, and Benigno Garcia, Jr. of Crane, Texas—and three daughters, Maria De Jesus Garza of Crane, Rosalinda Rodriquez of Ozona, Texas, and Sylvia Weis of Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Garcia is survived by twenty grandchildren and twenty-eight great-grandchildren and one great- great grandchild. 

Mrs. Garcia is preceded in death by her husband, Benigno Garcia, her parents, two brothers, four sisters, and a granddaughter, Ida Lynn Aguilar. 

Rosary will be said at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 22nd at Nichols Funeral Home Chapel in Crane. Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23rd at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Crane with Father Kumar Jujjuvarapu officiating. Burial will follow at the Crane County Cemetery. Arrangements are by Nichols Funeral Home of Crane, where public viewing will be held from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Monday, September 22.
