Obituary

Ricardo Barrera, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on April 30, 2026

Ricardo was born on November 8, 1958, to Oralia and Jesus Barrera. He lived a life rooted in hard work, love, and dedication to those closest to him. From the very beginning, he was a man full of life, strength, and a heart that would go on to touch so many.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Briza Barrera a love built on loyalty, laughter, and years of standing side by side through everything life brought their way. As a father, he was the definition of a provider, a protector, and a guiding light to his children: Ruby Hernandez and her husband Eliazar Hernandez, Arlene Dominguez and her husband Johnny Dominguez, and Ricardo Barrera Jr. and his wife Maria Barrera. Everything he did, he did for his family.

He was a man who truly never met a stranger. If you knew Ricardo, you knew his generosity had no limits. He helped anyone and everyone he could, always putting others before himself. His kindness, his laugh, and his presence made people feel at home.

He was the proud founder of Barrera Contractors Inc., a company that was more than just a business it was his passion and a reflection of who he was. He built it from the ground up with hard work, determination, and pride, leaving behind a legacy that will continue on in his name.

Outside of work, Ricardo found his greatest joy in his family, his ranch, and racing quarter horses. Those were the moments where his heart was fullest surrounded by the people and life he loved most.

To his grandchildren Mariah Nuno and her husband Oscar Nuno, Shayde Dominguez, Yanissa Hernandez, Juan Dominguez Jr., Elijah Hernandez, Briza Barrera, Briza Hernandez, Lexi Dominguez, Iza Barrera, Ariza Barrera, Iriza Barrera, and Yariza Barrera he was more than a grandfather. He was their protector, their teacher, and their best friend. He helped raise them, shaping who they are today.

Ricardo was the rock of his family. The one everyone leaned on. The one who made sure everyone was okay before himself. His love was steady, strong, and unconditional.

Though our hearts are shattered, we are grateful beyond words for the 67 years we were blessed to have with him. We would give anything for one more moment, one more conversation, one more chance to hear his voice.

If love could have saved him, he would have lived forever.
