Sherry Milam, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt, passed from this life on December 19, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and quiet strength that will forever live on through the family she cherished so deeply. She now rests in eternal peace, reunited in Heaven with her parents, Carl and Emma Lou Milam, her sister, Norma “Renae” Milam, and her beloved niece, Traci Klein.
Sherry was born on September 19, 1958, in Crane, Texas, where she was raised in a close-knit family of love and faith. She proudly graduated from Crane High School in 1977, and then went on to earn an associates in business at Odessa College before entering the workforce.
Throughout her professional life, Sherry devoted her career to accounting, a field in which she was known for her reliability, precision, and strong work ethic. She began her career at Star, later working for Laguna Petroleum, and most notably for John L. Cox, where she spent many years earning the respect and trust of colleagues and employers. Sherry approached her work with the same quiet dedication and integrity that characterized her entire life. She worked hard and loved hard, and those who knew her loved and respected her.
Sherry will be remembered as a woman of compassion, loyalty, and gentle strength. She loved deeply and selflessly, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her presence brought comfort and steadiness, and her life reflected a spirit rooted in faith. Whether through a kind word, a listening ear, or faithful support during difficult seasons, Sherry lived as a reflection of Christ’s love.
Though Sherry never had children of her own, her life was defined by extraordinary selflessness and devotion to her family. She became the very best aunt anyone could ever hope to have, pouring her heart fully into the lives of her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She doted on them endlessly—celebrating their accomplishments, sharing in their joys, offering guidance through life’s challenges, and loving them as if they were her own children. To her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, she was lovingly known as “Shebby” and “Shey,” names that reflect the deep affection and closeness they shared with her. To them, she was far more than an aunt; she was a second mother, a confidant, and a constant source of encouragement. Her sacrificial love shaped their lives in ways that words cannot fully capture, and her legacy will live on through them for generations to come.
She is survived by her brother, Carl Gordon Milam (and his wife, Shelly); her aunt, Peggy Dickson; her beloved nieces and nephew, Carl “Dubba” Milam (and his wife, Jenelle), Kimberly “Kimby” McClatchy (and her husband, Kelly), and Jaci Mason, as well as her cherished great-nieces and great-nephews: Kamryn, Kaylor, and Layton Milam; Ashlyn, Kolby, and Kenzi McClatchy; Emma and Parker Woods; and Aubree and Rylee Mason.
Sherry will be remembered as a woman of faith, steadfast devotion, and boundless love—someone who gave freely of herself and asked for nothing in return. Though she will be greatly missed, her family finds comfort in knowing she is now whole, healed, and at peace in the presence of her Savior. Until the day we meet again, her love will remain forever in our hearts.
Pallbearers will be Dubba Milam, Kelly McClatchy, Darrell Dixon, Bryan Dixon, Michael Powell, and Zachary Powell.
Honorary pallbearers are Steve Pettit, Dennis Young, Dennis Dickson, Kevin Dixon, and Greg Turner.
